There should be a historic marker proclaiming the Happy Tap as the last corner bar on the South Side, which during the heyday of Bethlehem Steel had bars on many corners. A hotel before and during Prohibition, it caters to native South Siders, college students and, yes, Steel vets. Attractions include a cozy 12-seat bar, 75-cent domestic drafts during Happy Hour (4-6 p.m.) and tacos and quesadillas. The grill’s relatively short hours — 4-8 p.m. Thursday-Friday, 2-8 p.m. Saturday, 2-6 p.m. Sunday — confirm this as a serious place for drinking and arguing about sports.
