Heavily influenced by the classic folk and rock sounds of the 60s and 70s, Alan Troxell has been gigging around since the mid-1980s. His experience ranges from full-band to church choir, from television to radio to theater, and currently, his main gig is that of a solo acoustic show. And whether playing cover songs or original material, Troxell's musical selections and overall vibe strike the epitome of the era and styles that influenced him. Troxell boasts two full-length CDs and can be found playing regularly at Celebrations and The Brick Tavern, as well as other local establishments.

If you could play any venue, where would it be?
Alan: I'd have to break it down to two places: Madison Square Garden and Fillmore West. All the big names play there. Especially the Fillmore. In the old days, all my favorite hippie bands from the 60s in San Francisco played there. If you made it to the Fillmore, you were pretty good.
If your music were to be used in any movie, what would it fit with best?
Alan: I can break it down to two. Probably "Apocalypse Now" and "Goodfellas". They both had killer 60s rock and roll soundtracks to the movies, and it was intense.
If you could play back up for any band, or if you had to be a cover band for any band, which would you choose?
Alan: Can I name three? The Beatles. Crosby, Stills, and Nash. And Love. I totally dig all three of those bands. They are everything that I want to be. A great writer, a great rhythm guitar player, and a killer vocalist. They just have everything I listen for.
