The name means "fireplace" in Japanese. And it’s that cozy kind of atmosphere of friends around a fireplace that the Shindos have tried to encourage since they opened their doors in Allentown in 1983. The bar top features mosaic blue tiles, and partitions suggest Japanese screens. Robata’s menu should please almost everyone with a yen for Japanese dining — it’s got sushi including giant clams, oysters and octopus, plus hot hibachi dishes.
