J’s, a mainstay on Northampton’s Main Street, just south of Route 329, J’s does offer the usual steak sandwiches and cold subs. The sandwiches arrive on 14-inch, hearth-baked rolls. But J’s also offers hot subs, including meatball and veal parmesan varieties, as well as hot sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs. For customers counting their carbs, it sells the Unsub, any of the shop’s nine cold subs served minus the roll, salad style, with a choice of four dressings. For the cost-conscious, consider J’s Meal Deals, which come with a sandwich, small drink and small fries.
