Located by railroad tracks, this former boarding house for railroad workers is crammed with gates, bells and other railroad artifacts. Owners Liz and Bruce Confer run a place that’s neighborly (historic photographs of Tamaqua), funky (a neon-lit glass bar), cozy (a gas fireplace) and affordable (two homemade crab cakes for $10.95, New York strip steak with mushrooms for $11.95). They’re proud of their foreign beers (Blue Moon), hamburgers and peanut butter pie, which Liz’s sister-in-law makes every Thursday during Girls’ Night Out.
